Q: I would like to test page protectors I purchased some time ago but the manufacturer suggests I test them with a ph test pen, as they no longer have the records to verify that the products identified by the specific product number I provided is acid free. Their more recent products are labeled as archival quality. I am wondering what to expect from one pen. How long does it last? Will I need more than one pen?

  A: It is really hard to know how long the pen life would be since it is based on how often it is used and how long the line is that you are using on the paper. Unfortunately the manufacturer does not provide information on that.
